Many ISPs and cloud providers block outbound port 25. When SMTP is unavailable, Email Verifier falls back to DNS/MX-only scoring and marks the result as unknown.
A catch-all domain accepts mail for any mailbox address, so a positive RCPT TO does not prove the mailbox exists.
